Traffic Engineering

The development and management of safe and efficient transport networks is fundamental to achieving positive social, economic and environmental outcomes. The traffic and transport division of InfraPlan provides a comprehensive range of professional services across traffic engineering and transport planning.

Consulting services include Road and Intersection design, Road Safety Audit and Assessment, Traffic Generation and Parking Demand, Local area traffic management plans, Traffic impact assessment and strategy and policy advice. We have developed a collaborative approach to working with state and local governments, commercial enterprise and academic agencies to deliver professional specialised and expert results.

Traffic, vehicle access and parking assessment

InfraPlan is able to assist developers and local Councils with a range of traffic services, specialising in vehicle manoeuvring assessment and car park assessment and design. We offer services which start at initial planning and inception stages and follow through with traffic modelling, design, delivery and sign off of new developments.

Parking demand and traffic generation analysis

InfraPlan implements a systematic and innovative approach to traffic generation and parking demand analysis. InfraPlan has successfully argued, on behalf of its clients, for significant reduction in car parking requirements for developments by applying logical method supported by practical best practice examples. Land use and transport integration principles are applied with other factors such as accessibility to public transport, mode choice, trip purpose, route selection and travel demand theory to provide clients with credible results.

Road and intersection design

InfraPlan offers road and intersection design services from concept to functional design. Australian Standards are followed with consideration given to innovative best practice to achieve the most desirable outcome for all road users including pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and freight. Land Use and transport integration principles are implemented in the design planning process to achieve the appropriate geometric design and road role and function.

Road Safety Audits and Assessment

InfraPlan undertakes road safety audits to examine road conditions with a specific focus on road safety implications for all anticipated road users. The road safety audit is a subjective review of the operating conditions of the specific location and identification of issues and factors that might contribute to the potential or severity of collisions. The road safety assessment provides findings and recommendations in accordance with the current Austroads Guide to Road Safety and the guiding Safe System Principles, with consideration of the four key elements that make up a safe road system: Safer Road User Behaviour, Safer Speeds, Safer Roads and Safer Vehicles.

Local Area Traffic Management Plans

Local area traffic management plans aim at creating a local road environment that is more appealing to pedestrians, cyclists and residents through the reduction of vehicle access or speed. The application of traffic calming measures creates safer and more liveable local streets. InfraPlan carefully considers the application of local area traffic management to ensure the needs of the local road environment are met and mitigate any negative impact on road users and residents alike.
