Kingsford Industrial Estate Traffic Impact Statement (2008)

Client

Light District Council

Project Description

Kingsford Industrial Estate is a 170 ha estate bounded by the Sturt Highway, the Gawler-Freeling Road, Argent Road to the north and existing industrial land to the south. The area is zoned ‘Industry (Gawler Belt)’ in the Light Regional Council Development Plan.

Kingsford Industrial Estate was identified as a key area for future major industrial development, and is currently the site for the AMCOR glass bottle manufacturing facility, SA Premium Wine Bottlers warehouse (also known as Hi-Trans) and more recently a storage facility for Scott’s Transport. The remainder of the land is currently used for cropping, however the site will be dedicated for industrial uses. The Kingsford Regional Industrial Estate is important to the expansion of industry in the northern region of Adelaide, and will provide employment opportunities for the surrounding area.

InfraPlan Involvement

InfraPlan was engaged to provide transport planning and traffic engineering advice to the Light Regional Council through URPS for its proposed Development Plan Amendment Report and supporting Statement of Investigations.

InfraPlan was employed to investigate the implications of the development of the site to determine traffic impacts and constraints relating to its future development. These investigations included:

  • Traffic demand and traffic volume analysis based on floor space and land use
  • Review road access/ connections/ road safety assessment
  • Responding to questions raised by the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure

The final Traffic Impact Report also determined the appropriate intersection treatments and road design with regard to engineering judgement and site observations. The Development Plan Amendment Report was incorporated this information into the site’s final design.
