Listening, analysing and if necessary becoming a part of the system
People often see and do things differently; each of us has a particular focus to the way we inquire and learn about the world around us. Good policy and strategy is not only dependent on the accuracy of models, professional standards or the skills of planners, engineers, environmental experts and economists. It is also dependent on the community acceptance of the strategies, and the political and social environment within which they are implemented. We utilise consultation methods that not only apply a “listening with all ears” approach, but also one that engages our stakeholders in a proper understanding of the factors that underpin challenges, be they global or local.
We believe that problems can be viewed in a number of ways:
- Community Planning: a local community perspective - aligning our belief systems with what we expect at a local level;
- Empirical Planning: a holistic but objective perspective - the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and the relationship between and within the urban systems;
- Participative Planning: as part of the system itself - participating in the urban, environmental or transport system; and
- Technical Analysis: a technical perspective - solving through professional standards.
infraPlan applies all four perspectives simultaneously to ensure sound planning solutions based on robust analysis and engagement at all levels.
